The best forecast apps for surfers

Surf Forecast Apps
Since there are not only magicseaweed, but also many other good and useful surf forecasting apps, today we want to introduce you to the best wave prediction apps and give you our opinion on pros and cons to the different forecasting apps.

The best surf forecast apps

The following surf forecast apps are great for forecasting waves for surfing. Of course, such weather, wind and wave forecasts are never 100% accurate and can also change a bit 1-2 days beforehand. Nevertheless, we surfers rely on the wave forecasts to have a direction and an indication of when things could go well. In the end, however, you can only see what the waves really look like on site.

Magicseaweed

The most well-known app for wave prediction check is clearly the MSW app. The predictions are usually quite good with the reality here, but change quite often even at short notice 2-3 days before.

PROS: Very good and relatively reliable forecast, good overview, various useful functions such as swell time-lapse graphic, or tide display
CONS: You always have to click through the continent / country selection to find the desired surf spots and can not search directly for a spot.

Surfline

Surfline's wave forecast is at the forefront worldwide. The forecasts for wind and waves are also relatively accurate with Surflines surf forecast and you can also create an account here to save your favorite surf spots. Otherwise you can also search and select the spots to be checked on the map. The prediction may even be the most realistic wave prediction among all apps, but it is somewhat more confusing than in other apps.

PROS: Realistic and reliable prediction; Spot search also via world map; Favorites list; Swell prediction as a time-lapse graphic
CONS: somewhat confusing representation; The wave forecast in the free version is only visible for the next 2 days

Wisuki

Good well-arranged all-round surf forecasting app that you can use as a supplement to the MagicSeaweed app. It delivers wind, wave and weather forecasts to many surf spots worldwide and in particular to all spots in Europe.

PROS: Well-prepared forecasts, usable, clearly arranged, with its own surf community area
CONS: Experience has shown that the wave height in this forecast app is a little too high. If you know that, you can still use it wisely

Windfinder

Very useful forecast app with very realistic wind conditions and wave forecasts. Has proven itself especially for North Sea and Baltic Sea spots. Is a useful and good supplement to the ever popular MagicSeaweed forecast.

PROS: Very accurate and realistic forecasts, many spots also available for Germany, Denmark, Holland, England, etc.
CONS: K.A.

Sine

Relatively new surf forecast and therefore not yet extensively tested with us. Give it a try and test it yourself.

PROS: K.A.
CONS: K.A.

WindGURU

PROS: Detailed information on wind and wave forecasting
CONS: Somewhat confusing, in the free version there is no indication of the wave height!
