LUCERO is located on Costa Rica’s Pacific coast, the Nicoya Peninsula. The blooming village of Santa Teresa is situated in the middle of Costa Rica’s surfing mecca. What was once just eight years ago a dirt road and a few small hostels is now brimming with international tourists and worldwide wave-chasers! Many who arrived only for a surf vacation in Costa Rica fell in love with the area and decided to stay. These newcomers from around the world, give a trendy international flavor to the local Costa Rican scene, from music and art to bakeries and a wide variety of restaurants.

For the past 8 years we have accommodated our guests at beautiful Otro lado but now we can spend even more quality time with our guests because we just finished building our own boutique hotel. It has four private rooms, a private home, 1 small apartment and a restaurant with pool. Lucero is build on a hillside in the middle of town just off the main street and walking distance to supermarket, restaurants and the beach! The lowest level is communal with restaurant for your breakfast, lunch, dinners, theory lessons and a pool in front to cool off when it's hot. On the second level there are the four rooms looking out over the pool with on the side a cool little garden to hang out in. On top of the hill is the main house with ocean view and on the back side of the hill with view of the jungle and families of white face monkeys is a small private apartment.

All rooms all have therapeutic matrasses, AC, ceiling fan, mini fridge, safe and a comfortable hammock. Our 'style' is a combination of old Spanish on the outside with white brick walls, Spanish tile on the roofs and touches from Bali on the inside with finished concrete, beautiful wood and the finest linen bedding.

The beaches of Santa Teresa have some of the best waves in Costa Rica! There are a variety of world-class breaks with great surf conditions year round. This in combination with clear blue water, white sand and palm trees in the background truly makes you feel like you are surfing in paradise.

So you’re in sunny Costa Rica and ready to surf! The lapping waves of Santa Teresa’s pristine beaches await your attention. Perfect for beginners to those with more intermediate skills!Our surf package includes beautiful accommodations, delicious meals, fun surf lessons focused on progression and someone to show you around town.

The difference between or Surf and Surf/Yoga package is that we focus more on your surfing and progressing, enough for you to leave with confidence to get out on your own. You will get feed back from video analysis. We will take you to different surf-spots when they are good. You will get more specific theory lessons. Basically all you will be doing when you are here is SURF!

What is included?

Six nights private accommodations on the beautiful private property of Lucero, in the middle of town and only a few minutes walking from the beach. (Sunday-Monday)
Daily breakfast and lunch at the hotel prepared with fresh local ingredients. For breakfast you can choose real Italian espresso or creamy cappuccino, delicious homemade cakes, tropical fruit salad, pancakes or American-style breakfast. Lunch offerings are a selection of salads and panini with Mediterranean-style ingredients. The menu always provides an array of vegetarian, meat and seafood options.
Welcome and farewell dinner No better way to meet each other and to say goodbye after a fun week then sharing a delicious meal together.
6 Surf lessons. The lessons include paddling, duck diving, catching a wave, positioning and more. A certified surf coach with a lot of experience will give you the personal attention you need, it does not matter if you are a beginner or already a bit more advanced.
Surf theory. With your instructor you will go over all important information that you should know about surfing.
Surf analysis. At the beginning and the end of the week we will film you surfing and analyse you to perfection!
Free use of all surf gear. If you want to practice as much as possible and feel confident to go out by yourself after your surf lessons you can use the boards whenever you feel like it. If you want to try different boards you can!
Surf photos. We will come to the beach to capture you in action and will send them to you by email.
ATV adventure day to the Montezuma waterfall. We will take you on a ride down to coast by Cabuya and up to the Montezuma waterfall. We will hike through the jungle to get there & stay for a swim. This is definitely a high light of your vacation!
Camp fire and music on the beach on Sundays. Roca mar is a restaurant/bar on the beach at the north end of Santa Teresa and every Sunday they have Pura Sonica, a gathering of locals and tourists to celebrate on the beach with good food, good music and a camp fire for sunset.

What is NOT included?

4 out of six dinner. We have a selection of best restaurants in town (and there are quiet a few) for you. The average price per meal is around $20-$25
Transfer from the airport. You can choose to take a bus for $15 from San jose. The daily shuttle (leaves at 7 am or 2 pm from SJO) for $50. A private shuttle is a good option if you are traveling with a group. The price is $250 one way and it can pick you up at any time. Both the bus and shuttle are close to 4 hours traveling, including a ferry crossing of 1.5 hour. The last option is to fly with a charter flight from San jose to Tambor, this takes only 20 minutes and costs around $120 one way. The taxi from Tambor to us is $50
Snacks & drinks in between breakfast & lunch or lunch & dinner. Water is free! Anything else can be purchased from our kitchen or at the local supermarket. We have fresh pipa's and home-made icetea daily & of course there is coffee.
Extra activities! Depending on when your surf lesson is either the afternoon or late morning is free to do some extra activities in the area or explore town by foot or by bike. You can add activities to your package when you make your booking online or you can add these later when you are here.
Gratuity. Although it is definitely not mandatory or expected, it is always very much appreciated by our staff. (We're adding it here because many guests always ask us about it)
